Breaking News!

More accolades and big recognition (again!) for McMinnville’s food scene. We’re celebrating two 2025 James Beard nominations!

So well deserved! Add these two dining destinations to your “must try” list when you visit. These chefs are leading the way for women in the culinary world and proving that McMinnville is a hub for both exceptional talent and outstanding dining.

From Visit McMinnville:

“Culinary Director Chef Sarah Schafer of Humble Spirit and Chef Kari Shaughnessy of Hayward Restaurant have both been named 2025 Beard Foundation semifinalists for Best Chef: Northwest & Pacific, solidifying McMinnville’s place on the culinary map.

“Sarah Schafer, previously the chef-owner of Portland’s Irving Street Kitchen, has brought her expertise to Humble Spirit, where she’s redefining farm-to-table dining with ingredients sourced straight from their farm, Tabula Rasa. Now part of The Ground, she’s not just elevating the local food scene but also championing regenerative agriculture and sustainability.”

**Humble Spirit is at 411 Third Street

**Humble Spirit is now Grounded Table with both a restaurant, (reservations recommended), and a pub around the corner, open daily.

”Kari Shaughnessy, who moved to McMinnville from Michelin-starred kitchens in San Francisco, earned her spot as a semifinalist this year after Hayward’s nomination for Best New Restaurant last year. Her cuisine is rooted in sustainability and seasonality, highlighting the best of the Pacific Northwest with ingredients from small-scale farmers and purveyors.”

Hayward was in McMinnville and is now in Carlton, learn more on their website

That’s a short drive if you want to explore further!
